Having some mic issues

Everytime I plug in my mic, I hear static through my headphones. Doesn't matter the mic I use. I have tried both my front and rear audio jack. Do I need to get a USB mic/adapter, or is there a fix within some settings? Thanks in advance.

As for your problem...

Does it just receive static and nothing else or does the static sound go away? Also, try plugging your desktop's PSU directly into an outlet.
