Headphone issues with pc

I recently purchased both a Sandberg Mobile to PC Headset Converter (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007GJ4S4M) and an Apple Earphone with Microphone (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00K7EQXIW).

 

I have plugged everything into my pc into the correct audio ports, the pc picked up that there are both a headphone and mic plugged in, yet no audio is actually picked up from the earphones except for the clicking noise when I press the button on the remote section of the headphones. 

 

Any chance someone on here knows how to solver my issue? Thanks!

try going to the audio section and see if the headphone is enabled or not

This is what it looks like normally no matter how much noise I make directly onto the mic http://i.imgur.com/z5KhFf2.png then when i press the button on the remote section it has a quick burst in noise levels like this http://i.imgur.com/RAkYk1T.png and then returns to as it was before.
