i just updated my amd driver in the media rig, and it litterally fucked the entire system up.

all playback went sluggish and slow, could not figure out why. so i reverted to the old driver, and now pretty much everything "stops working" when i try to load it.

Kodi, Explorer, IE etc.

i have been trying to figure this out for 4 hours and i give up. unless somone has some usefull ideas.

btw, there are no viruses, no malware etc. it is clean. only use it for kodi and YT playback.

right now i am thinking of doin a complete rebuild from scratch and NOT use the latest driver angain....

Uninstall the driver that you're currently using and then use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDO) to clean the registry of previously used driver settings.

Then install the new driver.

Are you using an APU?

Make sure you're using the APU driver and not the regular graphics driver. If you ARE using an APU, you'll have to reinstall the SB drivers as well.

Ah...

It's a 7410m. It's a mobile processor...

In that case, you'll have to download the mobile drivers.

Are the specs or model number of PC/Notebook you're trying to update the drivers on? Having them would make things much easier.

i already found the correct mobility driver, actually the exact same size and name as the other file....

Well im back at where i started. an oooooold 8.9 driver. everything else just completely fucks up the system. Unstable, sluggish and laggy and the occasional crash.

oh well. was hoping for a bit better performance whilest i am waiting for a fanless NUC.

thank you for the help. will use DDU with future driver updates (if i find a usefull one)

The 7410 isn't a rocket either so i dont believe it would benefit from the latest drivers, just stick with what was working

I have a friend that i built a computer for, it had a 280 in it, he updated to the latest beta driver the other day without telling me and his sytem start spazzing out and blue screening. Simply going back to the omega driver and uninstalling the current one fixed it

CPU-i5 4690k 4.4ghz @ 1.190V, MOBO-MSI z97 gaming 3, Cooler-hyper 212 evo, GPU- r9 290x asus directcuII (-37Mv), Storage-120gb v300(switching soon), 1tb caviar blue, CASE-Red/black h440, PSU-Antec TPC 650.

Threads like these are what stops me from going back to AMD.

i do not think this is justified as problems comparable to current amd GPUs. the 7410m is rather old and weak (in todays standards), but does a great job in my media center (completely fanless). Sadly some of the later hard compressed video formats / codecs are giving it a hard time (hence the driver update) apart from that, i am completely happy with it (and the old driver)
