Clock Watchdog

Go to solution Solved by DimasRMDO,

You can increase the VCore, but first I'd recommend getting aftermarket cooler. Increasing the voltage allows you to overclock higher but it increases heat output (it can also decrease lifespan if you set the voltage high enough). If you don't want to increase the voltage then you can downclock it to previous stable clock.

I'm new to the overclocking world. I'm using AMD Catalyst to overclock my CPU since I can't find a halfway decent guide using my bios. Halfway through the 4000 test I got the blue screen clock watchdog. I was holding steady at 59 degrees using the stock cooler.

My current setup is as follows:

CPU: FX-8320E

MoBo: Asus M5 A97 R2.0

Ram: Crucial 1866 2x4Gb

GPU: XFX R9 280

Power: 600W

OS: Win 8.1 64bit

Any and all assistance is welcomed.

I'm guessing that the VCore setting is found in the bios menu? I'm going to grab a Hyper 212 EVO tomorrow since I hear nothing but good things about them. I really wish someoen would put out a full tutorial for OCing my chip. I can only find the tutorial for the standard 8320. I'll attempt your suggestion once I have the unit installed. Thanks.

Tmax for FX processors is 62°C, so you want to get a better cooler. I wouldn't increase the voltage until you do that. Alternatively, you could decrease the clock speed by 100MHz and see how the validation runs then.

Yes, voltage option can be found in BIOS.
