Just as the title describes, which do you prefer? I just watched the video on the youtube channel, and was wondering what the forum though about it! Thanks guys!

If I don't plan on watercooling, aftermarket. If I do, reference (well, at least reference PCB)

I like reference on nVidia GPU's because of the way they look. Also, they tend to run cooler in SLI.

On the other hand, I like some aftermarket coolers because of their designs and/or cooling capacity.

If I had to choose one for the GTX 970, I'd get the reference for sure. If it were for an AMD card, I'd get an XFX because they're cooler than reference and look better (IMO) than Sapphire or others.

personally i prefer the custom cooled cards. i love sapphire coolers and evga is pretty decent too. the only reference cooler i love is the titan cooler. so sexy

If it's anything like the 290x Lightning, I prefer aftermarket. Best air cooler I've ever seen on any GPU. No Sapphire or XFX comes close. I like the way the reference Nividia cards look, but the way they sound... Not a fan. Actually, AMD Reference cards sound even worse. Not to mention the temps you can expect from both Nvidia and AMD reference coolers.
