I have the G1 Gaming GTX 970 and am getting great performance across the board but I know that I can get even more out of it through overclocking

Is this how you overclock

1. Raise core by 10
2. Run Valley
3. Repeat over and over monitoring FPS and Temps
4. When bugs and issues arise, Unlock voltage and raise by 5
5. Repeat Until temps get too high
6. Raise MEM Clock until issues arise, Go back to last safe OC and finish

Is this all correct
What is shader clock, should I change it.
It is grayed out in MSI Afterburner

I've heard shader clock is tied to core so should I/would I need to raise it

How much would I/Should I raise the voltage before it becomes unsafe

Thanks

thats what i do but i raise mine by 20 each time. i have my power target on 120% and i normally have the voltage at 1.1V.

Here's the easy way to overclock maxwell.

-Set power limit to max

-Add +200 MHz to both the core and memory.

-Run 3D mark/valley

-Write down Score

-Keep adding MHz  by 5 at a time until score starts going down or it crashes

Seriously.   If it's not crashing, artifacting or throttling it's smooth sailing. Easiest overclocking I've ever done.  You don't even need to mess with the voltage to get a great overclock.
