Best water cooler?

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

I will get the Define R5 since I wont watercool with phantek

Good?

Yep, that's fine. Sorry I didn't answer before, was preoccupied with something else.

A definitive best can't really be chosen unless we know what size (for the cooler), case and motherboard.

Generic answer:

  • 120MM - Don't bother.
  • 140MM - Don't bother.
  • 240MM - Corsair H100i GTX/H105, Cooler Master Nepton 240M/Eisberg 240L Prestige
  • 280MM - Corsair H110i GT, NZXT Kraken X61, Cooler Master Nepton 280L
  • 360MM - Swiftech H320, Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate

Choose based upon price and looks.

Wait, why in the hell are you buying a $100 case and a (potentially) $150 cooler while not upgrading the generic green motherboard that your system came with? (Unless you are going to soon, then ignore. You're still running a locked chip most likely, so it's not really worth getting a liquid cooler.)

But yeah, any option I listed will work fine for you.

You don't have to, but putting money into getting a pretty case with a side panel window for a motherboard that's going to look tiny in it and even more money into a cooler that is unnecessary for the CPU considering it cannot be overclocked is a little odd to me. Hey, do what you will, but I don't think you're making the best decision.

What is the best decision?

Well, that depends. If you don't really care if your PC looks amazing, then the motherboard you have now is fine. However, I still wouldn't suggest that you get the watercooler since it's not really necessary. A be quiet! Pure Rock would be a better choice, as it still cools well enough but won't cost nearly $150.

Well, do you like the case you have chosen? If so, then no. If not, then yes.

A definitive best can't really be chosen unless we know what size (for the cooler), case and motherboard.

Generic answer:

  • 120MM - Don't bother.
  • 140MM - Don't bother.
  • 240MM - Corsair H100i GTX/H105, Cooler Master Nepton 240M/Eisberg 240L Prestige
  • 280MM - Corsair H110i GT, NZXT Kraken X61, Cooler Master Nepton 280L
  • 360MM - Swiftech H320, Thermaltake Water 3.0 Ultimate

Choose based upon price and looks.

Thank you for this, I've opted for the NZXT Kraken X61. I had good luck with my CM Hyper 212 Evo, And I love CM as a brand, but the X61 offers a 6 year warranty vs. the 2 year found with the CM. I was looking at the CM Nepton 280L.

My GF is happy with her CM Hyper 212 Evo on her Pentium-K, And I'll be happy with the NZXT Kraken X61.

Thanks again. You helped me narrow it down to two options. In the end, the warranty was the deciding factor.
