Solved by TheSLSAMG,
Motherboard and GPU don't have to match in terms of brand, the motherboard will not need an update and get the cheapest RAM from a decent company. There will be no major differences between motherboard revisions (it says it on the sticker on the box what revision it is) and it simply doesn't matter.
1. buy the asus strix vresion, and no, having matching brand mobo and gpu does not improver performance2. no idea3. all ram is created equal... getting cheap ram is best4. what mobo are you gonna get? make sure its socket 1150 and you should be golden
Why a STRIX over anything else, and an LGA 1150 board won't necessarily be okay. OP linked a Z97X-SLI which is fine without an update, but any Z8x/H8x/B8x series boards will need an update unless they were built with the update.
