GPU for friend

Go to solution Solved by CalebTheEternal,

The 750ti would probably be good. Warthunder isn't a very intensive game. The 750ti is a good card. My old GTX 660 can play Battlefield 4 on high-ultra 1080p

I have a friend who enjoys playing war thunder, it is the only game he plays. He already has 8GB of ram and an i5-2500. Would a 750ti be good for playing war thunder at mid-high settings, or should he go for something better?

750ti would do, or the Radeon R9 270x 4GB for higher resolution.

If you're spending that much on an R9 270X 4GB though, it would be better to get an R9 280 3GB. 1GB less VRAM, but GPU-bound games (not as much VRAM, but GPU bound) will run better.

Assuming PC, right click desktop, click display, it will appear there.

Or you know, could get a 280X for that price and will crush everything, I can't think of any benchmark the 280x would lose to that card. There's no way that card would use more than 3gb let alone 4gb unless you literally only play games like Shadow of Mordor. (edit: at 4k with 16x SSAA)

I have not seen a 280x for $180, please enlighten me.

1080p, his budget is at most $200, about $150 USD is the target area though.

R9 280s cost about as much, you can get R9 280Xes used (though I get why you wouldn't want to buy used) for less. Either will offer better performance at 1080p, especially since very few games use close to 4GB at 1080p.

How about the r9 280. That is about $179 to $187 for Sapphire versions. Its a better card. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&IsNodeId=1&N=600489223
