Hello everyone,

My dad bought home his server yesterday, and it was not working. It had an e7400, 8700gt and a nic. I took everything out of the case, tried to post, and it did not work. I took out the graphics card, cleared the cmos and it magically powers on. The problem is that the graphics card was the only display output for the pc. Anyone know how a fanless gpu can die? I also need something to use as an output, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. (no usb 3.0, ddr2 ram, 8700GT!)

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3LR

CPU: Intel Core2Duo E7400

GPU: Gigabyte 8700GT

PSU: Corsair CS450M

HDD: 2x WD Green 500GB

RAM: Veritech Modules, no brand, unlimited warranty ddr2-800 2x1gb

Thanks guys,

Liam

I'm so sorry. Macbook Air Mid 2013. shivers.

I live in the place where a GTX970 here costs as much as a GTX980 in the US.

I can die overtime due to heat or something happening to the GPU. You can try to revive by "baking"  the GPU in an oven to reflow the solder points that may have come loose or had bad connections but since it is a fairly old card a replacement would be less work. If you just want it to have a display and work something like an HD5450 will do fine but isn't a powerhouse of anysort.
