I'm trying to figure out two things for my new build: a graphics card and a motherboard. For the GPU people recommend the GTX 970, but I've heard that the R9 290 is a cheaper card with essentially almost the same performance, and it doesn't have the 970's annoying coil whine which a lot of people complain about. So, which one should I pick? And now the motherboard: I'm mainly considering Gigabyte's Z97X UD5H BK and Asus Maximus Hero 7. I will consider other boards if you guys suggest any good ones, but I've heard that ASRock has poor RMI and that's why I'm felling eh towards their boards and as for MSI I've heard that some of their boards have poor QC. Maybe that's false, but that's why I am asking you guys. Thanks in advance!

For GPU my choise was ez. GTX 970 for good price/performance ratio (also power efficient) +shadowplay  and fast new drivers. With mobo dont get something expensive, at higher price they mainly offer bunch of extra features that u are not gonna use. Get something like asus z97a if u dont like other brands.

CPU: i7 4790k @ 4.4 GHz                                                 Case: Fractal Design Define R5                       SSD: Samsung Evo 850 250gb          Monitor:  Benq GL2760
GPU: MSI GTX 970 SLI (+140 Core|+400 Mem)               Motherboard: Msi Z97-G5                                 HDD: WD blue 1TB                             CPU Cooler:  Hyper 412s
      RAM: 16GB HyperX DDR3 1600MHz                                PSU: Cooler Master v850                                 Storage: Adata HV610 1TB                  OS: Windows 10

Alright, I guess I can go for the GTX 970. And Asus Z97A, I will mainly be gaming and not any rendering or capture, so is it fine for that?

Alright, thanks for those two decisions. However, which monitor should I choose? I would like to run 4k, but all the 60hz 4k ones are expensive like crazy, any suggestions?
