I'm planning on building a server for virtualization and the question i have is, is hyperthreading boosting performance for virtualization or does it decrease the performance.
i'm planning on using xenserver or vmware esxi but i cant find a definitive answer on my question.
i really want to know because i can save up to 100$ for choosing the 4670 instead of the 4770

Hello! You will want hyperthreading ON for virtualization. It can possibly boost performance in most scenarios. Just make sure you go into the Vmware settings and set the virtual machine to use as many threads as you want. The virtual machine will use as much power as it needs from the CPU.

In some cases hyperthreading can decrease performance by a couple percent, but most of the time it has an improvement. The only way to really check is it run the specific application you plan to run and see what kind of effect hyperthreading has on it.

Let me know if you have any more questions!
