Within the arrival of GTA V, I've decided to take my graphics card to the next level now. I'm running an old sandy bridge system, its a core i5 2500 with a z68 motherboard (was supposed to get k version but guy gave me wrong box). Its got the default 8gb 1600mhz dual channel ram along with an ssd. If I was to upgrade my gtx 660 to a 970, would it bottleneck my cpu? thanks!

It'll be in the top end of what your CPU can do, but no, it wont bottleneck it.

My arsenal: i7-9700k Gaming Rig, an iPhone, and Stupidity.

Might get a very close to a bottleneck in some games. Wish you had a 2500K. Sandy generally overclocks like no tomorrow.

I used to run BF4 and other games with my i5 - 760 at 4ghz, I barley saw much of a bottleneck at 1080p and max settings. Now remember this... below 1080p (or lower resolutions) you Graphics card has less work to do and you CPU has more (without V-sync) because your GPU can push out more frames so your CPU has to pre-render more. Above 1080p (or higher resolutions) your GPU has more work to do so your CPU doesn't have to pre-render as much.

So what I'm saying is... it all depends what resolution your playing at!

I see, thank you people.

I'll be purchasing a 970 quite soon and I'll be posting here with the results prior to my current gpu.
