Overclocking Q6600

Hi Guys,

 

a friend of mine has a Q6600 processor and a decent aftermarket cooler, so i thought i could overclock it a bit for him. The PC is a bit old, so i would replace the thermal paste and overclock it in the bios.

 

Do you have any recommendations for good settings? Do i need more voltage?

My PC specs: Intel Core i7-920, Gigabyte EX-58 Extreme, 9GB Corsair XMS3, Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce, 1TB WD, Be Quiet Straight Power 10 500W

I had a Q6600, they are great for OCing!  Actually, the first ones that came out were not good, then they moved to another stepping (known as "GO" if memory serves) which did very well.  I think it will say in CPUid, or possibly on the chip itself.

 

Yes, you will need more voltage.  I don't remember much more than that, sorry.  There are guides online for the Q6600.
