help reguarding gpu thermal paste

Go to solution Solved by screamXrawr,

You'll need to replace it.

It should be replaced every time you remove the cooler, I personally like to use MX-4.

you are going to have to replace the factory thermal compound and you will have to be careful about the heat pads as well see this linus video.

Keep in mind this will most likely void your warranty.

ok then thanks for the help guys :D

I want to paint over part of my gpu shroud but in order to take off the shroud i have to take the entire cooler off of the pcb. Is it safe to leave the factory paste on there when I put it back together or should I replace it?

There is nothing wrong with temps but I dont know if its necessary to replace it as to not get air bubbles or anything like that.

What would you recommend?

The gpu is a r9 280x toxic
