I have seen a few reviews of the Hyper X Cloud 1's specifiably Tek Syndicate's review and in that review he said that it is worth getting an AMP to go with the headset.

Now do you think it's worth getting an amp with these and if so please may you recommenced a good amp that costs £30 or less.

Thanks :P

It's impedance isn't that high so there's not much of a point. It's also a gaming headset, and generally and honestly speaking, most gaming headphones aren't that great anyways.

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

No it is not. I just upgraded to the Cloud 2's and they sound just as good with or without an amp.

I know where you are thinking with gaming headphones being horrible, but the HyperX Clouds are probably the best sounding "gaming" headphones on the market.

So it isn't really worth buying them then.

True, that's a good point. They're pretty good for gaming headphones - but then again in the bigger scope of things they're still gaming headphones.

The HyperX Clouds are an excellent deal and many reviewers all over the internet have given them praise and recommended them (including Linus - I'd link the video but I'm kinda busy right now). If you need gaming headphones for ~$100, they're definitely worth it.

So despite the fact that they are 60 ohm they still get enough power?

The word gaming doesn't mean a thing. It is a marketing tool to attract the uneducated, but it is usually associated with overpriced neon plastic junk.

But I fought that the Hyper X Cloud gaming headphones where very good?

It doesn't mean anything pertaining to the actual headphones themselves you're right, but personally if I'd want headphones with a mic attached then I'd have to get a pair of "gaming" headphones. I know there's other ways around it like getting a modmic and stuff but if I just want an easy solution for a mic, to me gaming headphones just seem like the way to go.

They're not terrible for gaming headphones - I'll say that. They're pretty decent for the price and if you want "gaming" headphones then that seems like a pretty good route.

Headphones/sets with the word 'gaming' in it aren't necessarily bad. There are a lot of good gaming headsets, like game zero, game one, ADG-1, AD-1, etc.

The word 'gaming' only means the brands are aiming for the gamers mostly.

It's an abstract term anyway. A few people in this sub alone use something like HD800, Audeze LCD, etc for gaming. So technically they're also 'gaming headphone'.

It's actually designed off an OEM headphone which is pretty good - Gemini DJ HSR-1000

The extra accessories and likelihood of better customer service/RMA experience is worth the extra cost for the Cloud in my opinion, especially if you'd like an attached mic anyways.
