Optimized Gaming Build

Go to solution Solved by Wirbelfeld,

Well basically, I'm going to game on an old 768p monitor I have at home, and I want to get decent FPS with maximized graphics, and I've settled on this so far:

MSI B75MA-E33 (I went for the B75 since I'm not looking to overclock)

Intel® Core™ i5-3330 CPU 3.0 GHz (3.2 GHz Turbo Boost)

ASUS GTX760-DirectCU II OC-2GB GDRR5

Kingston 8GB DDR3-1866MHz FURY - RED (Going to add another one if necessary for future games)

Corsair CX500 80+Bronze 500W

1To Western Digital Caviar Blue 7200 RPM

Zalman Z9+ Case

Before you comment on the 3rd Generation CPU

I went for the 3rd Gen because it's cheaper, at least where I live.

Yes I know Intel stopped producing LGA 1155 CPUs, but it won't be long before Intel ditches the LGA 1150 socket too, since the LGA 1151 will be released a few months after the Broadwell CPUs and I don't think I'm going to look for an upgrade at that time.

As for why I posted this topic:

I'm going to game on an oldie 768p monitor, so I'm not looking for a luxury build, and I want to know which part of this is an overkill, so I can downgrade and save a few bucks in my pocket.

Looks great I dont see any problems with it

I've heard better reviews on Seagate HDD's, but I wouldn't really know if they are that much of a difference. The build looks pretty solid though!

They are effectively the same. WD are more popular though

Everything in your build is great price to performance wise and is in the sweet spot for gaming at 1080p. If you don't plan on upgrading to a 1080p monitor, then I would downgrade the GPU because the GTX 760 is overkill for 768p.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4440 CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-L9i RAM: HyperX Fury 8GB SSD: Adata SP900 128GB HDD: WD Green 4TB GPU: Asus Strix GTX 960

Motherboard: Gigabyte H97N-WiFi PSU: Cooler Master V450S Case: Silverstone SG13

Mouse: Logitech G502 Keyboard: CM Storm Quickfire TK Monitor: AOC i2367FH Headset: Tritton Kunai
