What to upgrade!?

Go to solution Solved by skater7429,

Since SC is using the same game engine as Crysis, which I can run pretty decently, won't I have similar performance? I mean, I'd be content with 60fps on high instead of ultra on SC if it comes to that, until I can save up more for a better card.

I do think it is possible but at the same time there will be a lot more going on in sc than crysis but sure turning down some filters would be a playable experience but sdd is needed otherwise load times are gonna be a b**ch.

I think an ssd and a gpu update would be in order. Suggestions for  the ssd would be a decent 250gb one and for 1080p gaming i think an amd r9 290x would be good

290X is better for 1440p then 1080p.A 290X is too much overkill 280/280X would be better

Well let me think and i'll make a list of parts for you

 Thank you (:

Budget?

Well nothing too expensive maybe around $300 tops? I'd like to buy a ship with the game release. Also I don't have a set budget exactly; I was planning on simply saving up until I could afford it,

So the 760 won't have enough grunt?

Sorry, I didn't make it clear, I already have the computer haha. I just don't know what to upgrade at this point as I only made it in December and I feel it would be a waste of money to chuck out the relatively new parts.

Well star citizen is supposed to be a demanding game so im not sure a 760 would be good for the job .

More vram if he upgrades his monitor at anytime and more horse power in general but not breaking the bank but i do get your point and with the budget constraints your suggestion is more feasible.

I do think it is possible but at the same time there will be a lot more going on in sc than crysis but sure turning down some filters would be a playable experience but sdd is needed otherwise load times are gonna be a b**ch.

Yeah I have a 120gb SSD with just my OS, I'll install SC onto there! Well thanks for the help, guess there's nothing else I can really do other than replacing. Hopefully the 760 will last a year two more.
