MicroSD card for a virtual machine?

Go to solution Solved by Speedbird,

I thought it was speed and capacity.

No, only capacity. The Surface Pro 3 takes microSDXC, which is the largest capacity. You can put any microSD in it.

I've got a virtual box with Windows 8.1 and Visual Studio 2010 and 2013 Community installed on it. I'd like to stick it on a MicroSD card so I can run it on my Surface Pro. I'm not really concerned with speed as long as it works.

I've heard that the Surface Pro can take a "MicroSDXC" card. It does seem like MicroSDXCs are more expensive than plain MicroSD cards, but I'm not sure what the difference is.

I know about how much space I'd need, but I don't know what sort of card I should be looking for. Any suggestions?

Again, this is really just for Visual Studio. Darn thing installs a dozen little sub-program things and will not uninstall cleanly.

The difference between microSD and SDXC is capacity. The fact that your Surface Pro takes microSDXC means that it can take one up to 128GB in size.
