So I've had my G930 from Logitech and I'm looking to get something else. I'm looking to get "open" headphones, I've been thinking of approaching the idea of getting headphones and then a stand alone mic, but I'm open to any ideas. My budget is around $180 for the headphones as for the mic I would say around $60 is my limit. I mainly will use my headphones to game obviously, listen to music, watch movies, talk with my friends and that's about it. Like I said I'm open to any ideas, as long as the headphones have a nice build quality and sound great. Background noise won't really be too much, at most my mechanical keyboard (Cherry Red) and my girlfriend talking to me occasionally. Thank you for the help!

It doesn't make all that much sense that you need a good pair of headphones to do these things, as none of these things will benefit from better cans. Do you have a specific reason why?

But if you want, I've heard the HyperX Cloud II is great.

The Rig: NZXT H440 M3 (Green and Black) (Ncase M1 coming soon!!) | Intel Core i5-4690k x BeQuiet PureRock Slim | EVGA GTX 1060 6GB SSC  | ASUS H81i Plus | 12GB EVGA SSC @ 1600MHz | Seagate Barracuda 2TB | Sandisk Ultra II 480GB | Corsair SF 450| LG 29" Ultrawide | CoolerMaster Quickfire Rapid TKL | Corsair M65 Black Sennheiser HD 558 (MOD) | Audio-Technica ATR 2500

Honestly, I've heard that "open" headphones tend to give a better, more natural sound which gives for a nice experience if using headphones. That is really the main reason so I was going to give it a shot and see if I like it. Just asking around to see where I should get started really, as I'm not too familiar with headphones and headsets. Thought I'd get some feedback.

Edit: The music as well, going to see if I can get a better sound experience.

If you want a cheap introduction into the open/audiophile world then look into the Phillips SHP9500. It's my personal open headphone and they are quite amazing. They sound similar to headphones that cost more than double their price. The modmic is on Massdrop for $35 plus $5 shipping so that's a good mic option.

Oooooohhhhh! I just saw the music part.

lol, sorry! :P

And on the headphones, try the HD 558 from Sennheiser. http://en-us.sennheiser.com/audio-headphones-high-end-hd-558

Thank you! Do you have any experience with Moov Mics?

Look at SSL's post. They've not the best but they're also half the price so nothing really to complain about. The mod mic is better at keeping background noise out though if that's important to you. Sound quality is also better. It's double the price though.

I have a Moov Mic and an older version of the ModMic so I cant compare to ModMic v4. But imo the Moov is worth the $20. Sound quality is on par with mics in the $10-$50 range. It still has the con of adding an extra cable but if that doesnt bug you then go for it. Better deal than the ModMic imo. If ModMic was priced at $30 shipped then I would get that over the Moov but not at $40 shipped

PC Audio Setup = Beyerdynamic DT 770 pro 80 ohm and Sennheiser pc37x (also for xbox) hooked up to Schiit Fulla 3
