Windows 8

raxx

OK this isn't really about what is better or what you think is better. In my next gaming rig I might go with Windows 8 so I want to know if

there are issues I should think about. And I DON'T care about the START button. I can deal with that. I am just asking this:

If you have Win8, do you have any compatibility issues with games/hardware etc?

Thanks.

Windows 8 has some compatibility issues with older games, like, much older games. Although I haven't personally used it since launch and there may have been updates to address these issues

I am good at computer

I know you said you don't care about the start button, but there are programs to bring it back to the windows 7 design and to get rid of the metro start menu. Also, my friend was having problems with punkbuster in certain games.

Windowblinds 8 + Start8 + Fences + Rainmeter = whole new computer UI. I love Windows 8 with these additions. No problems for me thus far EXCEPT my chipset cd not working but it got downloaded when I first loaded up Windows 8 so it recongizes my chipset. YAY! lol.

I've found in my experience that if it runs in Win7 it runs as well or better in Win8. My biggest complaint about Win8 is that you have to go through msconfig or boot to CD to get to safe mode, in my case it wouldn't load into safe mode (using the msconfig method) without the install CD and then it forced me to run a diagnostic and when it passed (because I don't have an error) it reboot into normal mode. As of yet I've been unable to get into safe mode, because we all know we only need safe mode if Windows has errors and Windows always know when it does have these errors  . Besides that I love Win8...  :P

Edited: Scratch that, I tried the msconfig method again and it boot right into safe mode, don't know what the issue might have been every other time I've tried. Perhaps the diagnostic actually did something useful? Although what I was trying to achieve apparently doesn't work in safe mode. lol
