Hi,

I'm looking to buy a computer that should be able to handle pretty much any game while recording and streaming.

In addition it should be a pretty quiet computer, I don't want to pick up computer noice while recording.

The computer below is what I've been looking at, can you guys please help me finding out if the computer seems ok, or if there is something that can be improved?

part picker

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor

CPU cooling: I need advice on this, since I have no idea what to use

Motherboard: MSI Z97-G45 Gaming ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

Memory: A-Data XPG V1.0 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory

System and program storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

Video card: Asus GeForce GTX 980 4GB STRIX Video Card

Case: Fractal Design Define R5 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case

PSU: Corsair RM 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Video storage: I need advice on this, since I have no idea what to use

Comments and questions regarding some of the parts

System and program storage: I plan to have 2 identical SSDs to allow Windows on one and Ubuntu on the other, without having to worry about partitioning a drive.

PSU: I have added a PSU that is a bit too powerful to allow low fan speeds while gaming and recording at the same time.

CPU cooling: It seems clear to me that I need something more than the standard Intel CPU fan. What do you guys recommend, and why?

Video storage: Is it enough to use a normal 7200 rpm hard drive? What about several using raid? Or do I need SSDs? What about the noice of normal drives?

The goal is to be able to use 2560x1440 in 60 fps while both playing, recording and streaming.

I'll apreciate any feedback, and will answer questions as quick as I can.

go wd green or red if you want it to be a little more quiet. recording would be faster with raid but if you record with shadowplay you do not need that.

                                                                                      wow... pretty empty here...

Even a blue wd are quiet. Or I just don't hear them over my raptors? Idk. Got used to them, maybe.

Dont get greens. I recommend Barracudas, mine is about as quiet as my wd green in my old pc, i cant hear it over the other fans at all, which i can in my other build, that may be because it only has one 120mm though..

My Rig: AMD Ryzen 5800x3D | Scythe Fuma 2 | RX6600XT Red Devil | B550M Steel Legend | Fury Renegade 32GB 3600MTs | 980 Pro Gen4 - RAID0 - Kingston A400 480GB x2 RAID1 - Seagate Barracuda 1TB x2 | Fractal Design Integra M 650W | InWin 103 | Mic. - SM57 | Headphones - Sony MDR-1A | Keyboard - Roccat Vulcan 100 AIMO | Mouse - Steelseries Rival 310 | Monitor - Dell S3422DWG

The Greens and Reds are recommended for silent mass storage and you can see that in tests too. 5400rpms are just more quiet. i am using a barracuda and a toshiba drive ( 1 and 2 tb) and I can hear them clearly over my fans. but i went for all Be quiet shadow wings 140mm that i controll via a nzxt splitter to my mainboard. I also replaced the psu fan with a silent scythe fan. I Would love to have a red or green drive and I had a blue 500gb but it died some years ago.

I dont say that greens arent quiete, but they are too slow to be considered even playing games on. Also, i dont know if reds are quiete, i think they run 7200RPM, right?

of course it is slower but for standard mass storage it should be ok and it actually is 5400rpm.
