Need a new router?

My dad has slick internet (he is in the country and doesn't really have another choice) so what router should he get? He said under 100$ and preferably under 50$, but he's not really being picky. He needs one that is reliable and will last. He has a cisco lynksys e1000 that does not work. Thanks

what sort of range would he want to get does he need 2.4ghz and 5ghz or just one or the other does he want to hard-wire stuff and if so how many ports would he need
