If by "they're awesome" you mean "They're awesome for people who don't have to otherwise buy a videocard and can still do multimedia and more than a bit of gaming" then yes they're awesome.

Seriously though, APUs are good enough for both consoles so I don't really get why people hate them.

For a low-end to mid-end gaming pc, they can be really awesome. For not a lot of cash you can get something that will game at 1080p max settings if you run in dual graphics mode with a cheapo card like a 260X. That and they dont have a single arm like the G32 series, which i never recommend purely because of their complete inability to multitask in modern programs.

Apus are cool, just wish we could see intel and amd toss tips back and forth so intel could have better integrated graphics (cause honestly intel's HD series is terrible) and so that amd can have relevant cpu's out of the $120 price range.

does anyone like Apu's, personally I like using a Graphics card, though I want to know what every one else thinks.

It's just that they have sub-par CPU performance if in the future you want to upgrade to using a dedicated GPU. As opposed to Intel where their CPUs are great but iGPU is lacking compared to AMD.

If only we could get an APU with good GPU power that has CPU performance on par with an i3/i5, then it'll be a happier world.

For budget build APU is really helpful so you don't have to get separated CPU and GPU, besides the APU's performance for the price is great (for budget).

DirectX12 will supposedly help with that, not only that but they might be able to leverage the APU graphics even if not paired with a dual graphics capable card.

But as for getting stronger CPU cores with good graphics, well AMD just doesn't has the die space right now. Only intel has the manufacturing process required to fit both better/more CPU cores and graphics in the same die, and they're largely uninterested in better performing solutions, they usually do the bare minimum with their igpus required to get certain things working.

But I think that's about to change in the intel side too

First, you can only run dual graphics with a 240/250, possibly a 250X.

Second, even then I still doubt you'll be able to max out 1080p games

One day I will have my GTX 970. One day. PC specs are at my profile.

Not sure how to check what part works with what? Check out my compatibility guide!

AMD's main page says  R7 series gpu can run in dual graphics mode.  with A10 7800 series. As far as i know, recommended =/= required.
