If the mic is plugged in into a MIC slot you should be able to hear it fine through the headphones. Can you post a video or something, your post is really confusing.

ok, so just for a clearer picture, take a look at the behringer xenyx502.  my heaphones are in the phones port, my mic is in the mic in port via xlr.  the cd/tape input goes into a 3.5mm adapter into the heapdhones port in my pc.  the output goes to the 3.5mm adapter in my mic port in my pc.  i have the 2-tr to mix button pressed, or else my hyeapnoes are stupid quiet.  i can't get an audio recording right now, cuz i am in the middle of a game, but i will try to explain better.  so if i start recording  the audio is my voice, and the game twice.  and it is wayy louder than i am hearing from the live feedback from the phones port.  il get a video later.

sort of like the mic is recording my game sounds, and so is my recording software.  it's really weird.

The mic should only be recording your voice.

The game sounds should be sent to the Mixer itself.

The recording software should set to not record any sound other than from the mic jack.

Sounds like an issue with the recording software picking up your game sounds from your external speakers and the sound from the sound card on your motherboard.

Pics would be really nice.

Man it's really all so confusing, I really wish I could be there and fiddle with the thing myself.

If it was me, I would use the top in and out ports for everything, that way you can adjust your voice and the sound from your computer separately.
