Modmic noise

ONEnONLY

Hi, I've bought the modmic after I watched the review of it. I wanted to use it for streaming, youtube videos and just speaking through skype/ts3 but its no where near as good as in the review. I get a lot of noise and the microphone doesnt pick up my voice very well(its really quiet). When i use audacity to turn it up i get even more noise, and when i try to remove the noise it mutes the parts when im not speaking and when i speak the noise comes back and it sounds awful.

The microphone is facing the right way, I've tried using the front and the back audio input port on my pc.

I'm thinking of buying a little usb sound card for like £3 but im not sure if that will help.

What else could i do? Did i get a faulty modmic?

I bought it from overclockers.co.uk like 5 months ago so hopefully i will be able to get it replaced or fixed if it is faulty.

Yes, you probably got a faulty unit. I had a similar issue where I had to enable the noise canceling feature on my onboard sound card causing my voice to break up and be very quiet.

I sent it in for 'inspection' and got a completely new unit right away.

And now it works without the noise canceling and is very loud and clear

It's not the mic most likely.

Usually onboard audio has very poor audio INPUT.

I would recommend getting that usb sound card you were thinking of.
