I usually recommend the R9-285, but in this case... now that I'm actually faced with making a purchase, I can not decide between a R9-280, R9-285, or GTX-960. I'd go with the 280x, but prices have shot up over the past week.

Just about to pull the trigger on the rest of the parts. This is around the upper side of my GF's budget, so going much farther is unlikely.

 

She'll also never use any more storage than the >240gb that will be available from the SSD.

You think that cooler can handle a 4.4ghz OC on a Pentium-K?

The Hyper TX3 seems like a decent choice, it says its compatible with your case and jipster69 said "...kept my CPU below my threshold of 60^oC well into 4.7GHz OC attempts..." which was a FX-6300.

Well the 280 and 285 have more shaders and TMUs than the 960, the 960 can run cooler and use less power as well as great overclocking. All three will work well for ESO, but I personally would go with the 960.
