Mobo audio chipsets

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

What matters is indeed the implementation and there is no way to predict what motherboard will sound like what. In any case the differences are not usually significant.

I'm interested in a budget Z97 motherboard and trying to figure out the differences between some of the offerings. The most common audio chipsets seem to be Realtek ALC1150, ALC898, and ALC892. Are the differences in these chipsets noticeable on something like a HyperX Cloud headset? Or is the implementation more important (e.g., segregation of the audio components on the mobo)?
