you plug the front headers into those and then that into the mobo (you don;t have to use them, it's just to make your life easier).

To plug front headers into, makes it easier, I use it.

To plug in your front headers, it's not needed, but It makes it MUCH easier to plug headers in. Could make a difference between headset sound in the front IO  of the case and no sound. 

The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.
