Almost every Lenovo thinkpad & ultrabooks in general have HD 4 or 5000 graphics, are they any good at all or should I be looking for a dedicated GPU?

I'm not familiar with how GPU graphics work in a laptop, so i'd like some information/advice :)

If u want to game then gpu is the best way to go about it, if u dont game or only play the odd game at low settings and dont care bout fps then hd grapihcs will be fine

What is your budget and what are you going to be playing?

i'm starting a study in "software engineering" / programming of 4years. I'm looking for a 8gb ram, 256ssd, i5 or i7 laptop. I'll not be using it for gaming, just for school/programming (java, sql, php, python, ruby etc).

I'll be transporting it everyday so either 13 or 15inch.

13 because of portability, but 15 because I like to work on 15.
