why would you need to buy all this, they have simulation software?

It's called Cisco Packet Tracer. Virtually everything is in there.

I use packet tracer. I personally prefer to have hands on experience with equipment. All the the stuff in the picture were for free as well xD.

Oh well, that changes it a lot.

Hands on is always nicer, especially if it is for free.

You lucky bastard.

I would say that you need another router or two.

In the CCNA you wont really do that much layer 3 switching, that comes later.

You can also do all the routing in GNS3 as another option too.

Probably just a layer 3 switch and another router. You dont realy need anything else more advanced just for CCNA .

anohter router might help you out a bit.   I would get a C4550 switch and a 2811 router   I regualy see 2801 and 2811 routers in datacentere racks so they are still widly used.

Personaly In my cisco Lab i have

2851

2811

3500XL

7401ASR

3750 48

1721

871

And then im lucky enough to have access to 6500 chassis with lots of different line cards to play with but what you have is ok for CCNA.

As far as i know your router doesnt support IPv6?   Allways good to get routers that support V6 as there will be questions on V6 stuffs

If you have CPU's in your PE2950 with VT support you can run the cisco CSR1000V  virtual router!

If your dad's company is throwing stuff out again, tell'em to send it to belgium.

Would be appreciated ;D

Equipment for a CCNA lap isn't really that expensive. You can 2950's for like 10-15 euroes. The same goes for most of the other components needed.. :)

Yeh.  Cisco do an OVA of the CSR 1000V  you can use for virtual cisco routers.  You can have quite a few running with your 32GB of ram, no need to buy any more hardare :)

I'm studying cybercrime in college. So we have a lot of networking stuff.

We had to do a CCNA course in the first year.

Pretty dope setup. I think you should get a 20U rack to house all of this equipment. For CCNA this is more than enough. I know a guy who finished CCNA with 3 1841s a 2950 and two more routers which I can't remember the series.

You ain't getting a CCNA certificate for using only Cisco Pacet Tracer. It's rather limited.

I did my CCNA using packet tracer only and didn't even use all of the feature set available so try to refrain from absolute statements like this.

OP if you want to use physical equipment for your CCNA studies that's cool too. You really only need 2 basic routers 18xx series will do fine and 2-3 switches. Layer 3 isn't required until you start getting into CCNP Switch.

This is honestly the first time ever I heard something like this. However we will leave it at that.

No worries friend. Different methods work better for different people. I fully believe it's better to study with physical equipment if you have the resources to do that, but I just wanted to clarify it's definitely not a necessity.

I have good friend I work with that is taking his CCIE written in two weeks and he only uses GNS3 + experience he's gained through work but he does not have any personally owned equipment.
