Don Mattrick, Zynga's new CEO reportedly discussed buying the company while still at Microsoft

Following the news of Mattrick leaving Microsoft for the role of CEO at Zynga and Ballmer taking his place there is now a new report claiming that he tried to acquire Zynga while he was still at Microsoft, indicating that he had probably already started considering this move much earlier rather than it having been a consequence to the rumoured Microsoft restructuring or due to the massive PR train-wreck he took part in.

Don Mattrick had allegedly started negotiations with Zynga three years ago, in 2010, by attempting to buy games like FarmVille. The discussions fell through and Zynga has lost some of its popularity.

Mattrick has also been reported that he wanted a bigger role within Microsoft and is instead now trying to steer Zynga back to health after the loss of key talent and stock price.
