I've started paying DS for the first time. I've finished DS2 and people said it's much easier than the first one. After playing 1 hour, I died 30 times. Rage quit ~15 times. It's so fuc**ing frustrating. So far I have to say I love this game. What are your opinions on this game and do you like it? Compared to DS2, which one is better in your opinion? Peace.

Well, I love each Soul's game with all my heart, but DS 1 is my favorite. DS 1 can be really hard at the beginning even for Soul veterans, it gets a little better later if you've learned your lessons. Also, take it easy with Smough and Ornstein lol

I prefer the lore in DS1 to DS2's. It's hard to explain this without writing an essay, so I'll just leave my preference as-is.

However, for everything not related to lore, I enjoyed DS2 more. It did away with drawn out/useless upgrade paths for weapons (though DS2 has its share of useless weapon affinities), the combat/movement feels better, and the fact it works really well on PC compared to vanilla DS1. Though the constant nerfing to things that didn't need to be nerfed so hard (like miracles and sorceries, not like the monastery scimitar) was annoying, not to mention the bait and switch they pulled with the graphical quality in demos vs final release (to be supposedly fixed in Scholar of the First Sin). It's good that From gave us plenty of chances to redistribute level points, I guess.

I think Dark Souls 1 is the second best game of all time. I started the second one but haven't played much of it yet and i am waiting for the SOTFS update

I've briefly heard of that duo. I can already start ripping my hair out. Fortunately, the Sunlight Knight can be summoned to help :)

DS2's mechanics were superior, but it showed that Miyazaki took a hands-off role in Dark Souls 2.  Alot of things in that game make very little sense, pacing of progression, boss patterns, poor early-mid game weapon distribution (I used Heide Knight Sword forever before I could find a better Dex weapon).  Even graphical quality isn't better, yeah sure DS2 had some nice views of the water and the setting sun, and I know technically the entire country of Drangleic is hollow at this point, but man everything just looks...sort of dead, also taking out the lighting system to reach the release deadline is fine, but trying to cash in on it with SOTFS? Despicable practice, at least give previous DS2 owners a discount like Square Enix did with Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition.

Yep. I agree on the SOTFS DLC. Very confusing to say the least. I mean- a visual upgrade from DX9 to DX11 should be free anyway. I hope that at least makes the game look a LOT better. But still- I think that Hollow Soldiers from EA made their way to Miyazaki's office somehow..

Do you have the Drake Sword already right? Is almost like cheating using that sword at the beginning but it helps, at the beginning...

I really liked DS and DS2. Took me a whole life to complete as yes it is very very very frustrating sometimes but that feeling you get after defeating every boss is undescribeable, its nearly as satisfying as switching on your first ever PC build and it working for the first time, yeah really liked the games but yes dont feel bad if you rage quit because wow the amount of times I did was... dont judge
