dual boot - detecting second system hdd

Go to solution Solved by Sauron,

Never mind. Booting into windows 10 solved the issue.

Hey guys,

sorry if it's a trivial question but I couldn't find a satisfactory answer through google. I have windows 10 installed on a wd black hdd and I just reinstalled windows 8.1 on my ssd. While in windows 8 I can't detect the wd black. Any ideas?

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

sudo chmod -R 000 /*

its because when Windows boots it will search for the boot partition (your Windows 8.1). It will then ignore the other HDD with the other boot partition to stop it interfering with the current running windows version. I think disabling Secure Boot fixes that issue but im not 100% sure.

I can't find secure boot anywhere in my bios. By the way, windows 8 straight up doesn't see the drive. It's like it wasn't even there.

(the drive is recognized by the bios)
