Laptop won't boot

My laptop won't boot up, it just goes straight into the bios. I've. Turned it on and off and unplugged/plugged the hard drive back in. I don't know what else to do. Please leave suggestions.

Sounds like a HDD issue, but if that was the case it should boot to a black screen with text that says something like insert a boot device. Can you try the HDD in another PC as a start ?

I have another HDD in a drawer that went to an old laptop but would that cause any problems?

It should not. If it has the SATA connector you are good.

I did a little bit of googling, try this.

 

1) Unplug the adapter.

2) Take out the battery and push the power button for 30 seconds.

3) Just plug the adapter and push the power button. Reply with what happens.

You did put the original HDD back right ? You could also try to have it just plug in without battery and then hold the power button for like 30-45 seconds.

You could try to boot into the safe mode usually tapping F8. See what it does.

Still went straight into the bios.

Damn. I heard that sometimes you need to hold the F8 button or use shift+F8.

That's wierd. I don't know man. Maybe try the ''holding the power button trick'' with the old HDD ?

Only other things I can come up with is to:

 

1) Check the boot order in BIOS

2) Try to reset the BIOS by removing the CMOS battery. (Probably require dissasembly of the laptop)

Launch CSM [Disabled]

Boot Option Priorities

Delete Boot Options

Probably Boot Option Priorities. Just check it out, when you see mentions od cd/dvd drive, HDD and similar.
