Rookie error. I stupidly installed a second gpu in the wrong pcie slot on my asus x79 deluxe motherboard - slot 3 of 4 - and, even more stupidly, when attempting to remove the card, pulled half of this pcie slot off the board. I don't plan on using this slot, but I'm not sure if there will be any problems relating to performance, or the potential of harming components, if I continue to use two of the working pcie slots to run an sli configuration - I'd rather not get a new board, so I"m hoping I can continue to use this one as is. Any insight anyone can offer on this problem would be appreciated. Thanks.

Picture? I would like to see if any of the surrounding components are damaged.

Try to use it as it is and if it doesnt work use a different mobo

And next time try to remember the locking tab you need to release when removing stuff from the slots. Performance wise it shouldnt be impacted but you could have damaged other parts in the process. If it works then its fine if it doesnt then you need a new one.

Im so patriotic, I piss red white and blue. My doctor told me it was pancreatic cancer, I told him to SHUT HIS COMMIE MOUTH.

Thanks for the responses. None of the surrounding components were damaged, however some of the pins are definitely making contact with each other. I have used it and everything appears to function fine, just don't want to continue using if it could potentially harm the cpu/gpu, etc.

Grab a blanket, crawl into a dark corner and cry for a bit. Once you fell better, watch a few Macgiver episodes and then grab a few roles of duct tape and Presto! You just built Optimus Prime...

Or you know, you could help OP?

Is it still works there shouldn't be too much of a problem although I wouldn't know much about that so don't take my word for it.
