Which goes thru which?
LED diagrams on the net differ from the power source (moslty batteries/usb and using a 12v adapter/charger) and the 3.5mm Jack
So I'll be using a MOLEX for power and my 3.5mm jack is colored red,yellow and white.

I'm not sure about the TiP 31 controller but this seems like a good tutorial.

Alright, I made one of these a few years ago for an assignment, however it was a portable speaker system. For your setup you'll want to follow this diagram:d1FJwiN.png

Oh yeah you might want to mirror your audio outputs using stereo mix so you can listen to it with whatever output your speakers/headphones are with this circuit, as the LED's are sensitive to the power going through your TIP chip. in other words, less volume = no light, more volume = always lights. Basically just have two outputs in your pc, not a splitter like in my picture.
