2 questions about W8.1

sumdumgai

Have searched the internet and cannot get a definite answer on these two questions:

1) Is Windows 8.1 Full Version same as Windows 8.1 Pro (I think not but asking just the same)?

2) Do you need Windows 8.1 Pro to do Raid 1 mirroring (or should I be able to do it with 'Full Version' which is what I have)?

Thanks.

1) No, there is a full version of 8.1 and full version of 8.1 pro.

2) I believe you can do it in hardware... software I can't be sure.

The projects never end in my line of work.

It looks like you can do Raid 1 through the software that's on the MOBO (i.e., by setting it up through BIOS), but I read somewhere that the MOBO version is not very reliable and doing it with Windows is better.  But when I right click on a drive in Disk Management, I don't see the 'Add mirror' option, only 'striping'.

You've got that backwards, doing Software RAID is possible however its always better to do it via hardware using either the raid controllers OPROM (BIOS) or your system UEFI.

If you are Gamer, Admin, or Advance User who like to change windows setting you might buy Pro edition.

The standard version doesnt have Administrative Tools which is very important.
