Hello all :D So i recently [~xmas 2014] acquired an ooolllllld [about 6-7 years] pc from my brother with the intent to upgrade a few parts and give it to my buddy to get him into gaming. We booted it up when we got it and it worked just fine [despite having a bootleg version of Win8 that my white knight dad frowned upon] so fast forward a couple months and i was playing around with it, seeing what hard drives where good [it has like 4] and what was bad, and i removed one of the hard drives which has been sitting on my desk in my room since then while the computer has been resting in my closet until just a few days ago, when i pulled it back out, made it travel safe, and drove it 10 minutes to my buddies house, put it back together and booted it up aaaannnnnnnd nothing...powered it on and the fans started spinning, the leds came on, but that was it.

No post, no mobo beeps, nothing at all. So needless to say im flabbergasted because the only thing thats different is its missing that one HDD thats sitting on my desk that i think is the OS drive. I had a Mad Catz RAT3 and STRIKE3 hooked up to it and it wouldnt even power the main LEDs on the keyboard/mouse so i know it didnt even try to turn all the way on. I brought a linux thumb drive to use as the OC till he bought Windows.

so now im all like WTF?!?! idk much about the interconnectivity of hardware, what would cause what to fuck up, so im totally stumped besides thinking i need to replace the motherboard since thats the first real piece of hardware in line after the PSU [which delivered power to everything just fine]

Tried clearing the CMOS? If it's an old pc, there should be a battery on the motherboard, a round, flat silver battery. Pop it out for 10 seconds, then put it back in.

Also, when i read the title, i had the impression that the post would be about a PC that had literally drowned, presumably by a failed attempt at water cooling.

Shot through the heart and you're to blame, 30fps and i'll pirate your game - Bon Jovi

Take me down to the console city where the games are blurry and the frames are thirty - Guns N' Roses

Arguing with religious people is like explaining to your mother that online games can't be paused...

no I didnt.

What I did try though:

Uninstalling all RAM sticks except for one [no change]

Unplugging all internal/external cables [no change]

[i sent the desktop to my father who is about 20 minutes away so he could try and fix it as he is much smarter than i]
