Backups

So I'm getting new hdd's and a ssd. I don't need to back anything up unless I have to back up saved games. Do I have to backup games on steam? If so easiest way to do it?

well steam games are already on the cloud after you buy them, with all of the saves in each game. So if thats your question, with a HDD you can just redownload the game and pick up where you left off. Just be sure you have steam-cloud enabled and do a backup before switching drives.

Valve will back up most game saves to their cloud servers, so long as you are connected to the web when you finish playing. This process is automatic so you don't have to worry about it. If you need to recover asset data, just redownload it.

OK cool. I was just worried about losing all my save data for my games. I knew they had a cloud service but I wasn't sure if it was automatic or if it worked with every game. Thanks!
