I just bought a 120 gb Samsung 850 evo for a brand new unbuilt system.  Upon opening the package, I was met with a CD disk.  At first I was confused.  "SSDs don't need driver software, do they?" I asked myself.  The ssd will hold Windows 8.1 Pro, and that's about it.  Do i need to install drivers for a brand new Samsung 850 evo?  Also, if you can, please give a full list of all the things i need drivers for, as i'm new to computer building.  THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!

No. But for the samsung, the magician software is a nice thing to install. You don't have to though.

nope SSDs don't need drivers.

For your audio you might want Realtek drivers, so you can download them from their website, and for GPU/Mobo drivers you can pick them up from the maker's website

Windows 8 actually does a really good job detecting and installing correct drivers automatically when compared to something like Windows 7. Sometimes if Windows doesn't come with the networking driver you'll need to install it manually. You'll also usually want to install video card drivers/utilities.

The CD comes with Samsung Magician: Which shows the status of your ssd, benchmarks it, does firmware updates (if needed), and you can use the extra features for your ssd such as RAPID and Secure Erase. It comes with Samsung Migration: Which Migrates your entire OS and personal files from your old boot drive.
