So, I found an Antek 300 on craigslist for 50$. This will not end up being my main case as I decided I will slowly mod a Powermac G5 but that is a little on down the road.

To get my rig set up, I wanted to get a case in the mean time and wondered if this Antek 300 would be ok. I bought a Corsair RM 650W PSU and that has the fan which you would normally have mounted to intake fresh air from the bottom of the case, but the Antek 300 doesn't have an opening there like newer cases. Could I just have this mounted on the little PSU riser/stand off thing and it get air from inside the case?

This PSU has the zero RPM mode when its idling and to give you a better idea of what I'll be building:

CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Corsair H90 94.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance Pro 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
Storage:
  1. Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
  2. Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Video Card: Asus Radeon R9 280X 3GB DirectCU II Video Card

tldr; Antek 300 selling for 50$ no intake for bottom mounted psu, should I buy or avoid?

I would recommend a Corsair 200R which is about $50 new.

But if that's not what you like the Antek 300 is alright, not great, but certainly not bad.

Air from inside the case tend to be hot so not the best air to cool something with. I would say buy a budget case new for around 50 dollars (like corsair 200R).

I'd say:

Zalman Z1/ Z9 Plus/ Z12 Plus

Bitfenix Comrade/ Neos

Cooler Master K280

Fractal Core 2300

Raijintek Genesis

Would all be better options with less dated designs.

Personally, I think either the Fractal or Raijintek are the most attractive ones, but the latter has a pricetag of $50 at NCIX and is hard to beat at that price.
