This is a <$1000 gaming/multitasking PC.  I play DOTA 2 and WOW.  I also have been doing a lot of non-vanilla Minecraft, and a lot of people on the Minecraft forum said to go with hi-speed RAM.  I'm using DDR3 2400, so the mobo will need to be overclocked.  I plan to fully overclock the CPU as well.  I alredy have a keyboard, mouse, speakers, monitor, etc.

EDIT:  I switched my RAM to DDR3 1866 now.  Thank you for the input.

So, before I go buying the parts, do you have any suggestions for a way to improve it to be more cost-effective?

Thanks!

I don't always use Vessel.... but when I do, it's because of Scrapyard Wars.

Get 1600 or 1866 memory instead. 4690k is absolutely perfect for WoW as it benefits the most of any major game I know from per-core power, of which the unlocked Haswell CPUs are undisputed kings.

^^ That's right, memory speed has little effect on game fps. It DOES have an effect on things like video rendering (though small). I'd use the money that you would save by going to 1600mhz RAM into putting in a bigger PSU for more upgrade room - 750W power supply. Also, you might want to get a single stick of RAM so if you want to upgrade later, then you can just buy another 8GB stick to make it 16GB.

Happy building and hope this helps :D

Looks really good to me. 2400 MHz memory is only really helpful in professional work though. I will admit Minecraft seems to benifit more from the faster RAM but your gains will  probably drop off above 2133 MHz. Slow it down just a bit and save yourself a few.
