Upgrading my pc

Go to solution Solved by mapegl,

Heey guys,

I was wondering what should i do, btw my aim is to get a good workstation pc, so not only for gaming also rendering and editing.

So should i go with a G3258 Pentium and a Msi r7 250, or a Amd fx-6300 with a nvidia geforce 520?

if you have a better combo is this price range let me know it!

Thanks!

You should always provide a pcpartpicker link and/or your location for build advice. Very important. Otherwise noone can tell what price range you are in. Also tell us the max of what you are willing to pay.

On the component choice: The 6300 will perform better in rendering and such, BUT you could get a nice (H97/Z97 chipset) motherboard with the Pentium and have great upgrade possibilities later on down the road. Also the G3258 ist actually as fast as the 6300 in single and dual core applications, so games would be fine since a dual-core paired with the GPU you mentioned is fine.

The AM3+ platform is kinda dead, so I wouldn't go there anymore. The Intel 1150 platform will get another round of CPUs in just a few weeks probably. Boradwell is coming very soon and you can get VERY powerful CPUs there.

If you don't want to upgrade again and just want something and be done for the next years, get the 6300.
