My computer often freezes when I start up a game or a video and the monitor will shut off every so often.. or even the whole computer. I first thought it was the graphics driver because this happens as I hear a loud buzzing sound like a fan and a warning that my "driver stopped responding" but after feeling the heat from my CPU I thought it could be the CPU heating up. NO, I just googled what I saw on a start-up screen saying "HDD S.M.A.R.T capacity..... disabled" meaning something is wrong with my Hard "Drive". There have also been some other warnings about my "driver" but I still can't figure out what my screen randomly shutting off and freezing has to do with my HDD. http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/

Yup that's pretty weird... have you tried updating the driver ?

Try to control your temperatures and maybe change the thermal paste / get a new heatsink if needed.

If it happens even when you start a video something is wrong I think, and maybe your hardware is simply not good enough for the video game you try to run ?

Have you successfully setup your Graphics cards for a crossfire configuration?

also, when you get a warning about a driver, or a BSOD, let me know what error message you get.

try running a component test to see if the HDD is indeed the problem.4

see about updating the drivers too, but looping back about the crossfire configuration, if that isn't done correctly, then you need to do that before updating the drivers.

"Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" This is supposed to be an error for Win7 though, not win8. "driver_irql_not_less_or_equal" This shows up when my computer shuts itself off. I think there was "driver_power_state_failure" too and idk how to run a component test.

EDIT: No I haven't set it up for crossfire because it is only running one graphics card, should I do that?

It's a new computer from around 2 months ago and has the fans that came with it (which aren't too good) but controlling my temperature isn't the problem since it's always on 25% when idle or on the internet and 50% when playing a game.. just it speeds itself up. I probably should get a new heatsink but idk if the CPU heatsink is what's wrong or if that buzzing sound is coming from the HDD right next to the heatsink.

This brings me back to the Crossfire config. Have you set that up correctly?

if so, make sure you have the latest Video drivers for BOTH graphics cards.

This is the driver_irql_not_less_or_equal ERROR.

I only have one graphics card though and it is up to date.

My bad, your PCpartpicker link showed two with crossfire config...

I would say try rolling back the driver, or uninstalling it all together, then reinstalling it here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx

But if reinstalling the latest driver doesn't work, I feel as if your GPU went RMA ( you need to send it back for a replacement).
