Windows Installation

Go to solution Solved by TakeiT,

After a skype conversation with a friend, to his suggestion I cleared the CMOS and that seemed to do it, windows is installing right now.

I'm using an old ASUS computer, i'm not sure of the model or anything but it came with a pentium 4 3.00Ghz, 2 120GB WD drives in factory RAID.  I tried to install Windows server and it said "Windows cannot be installed to this drive"  when it didnt work I tried Windows 10 Preview and same problem.  I tried using DISKPART, and still no luck.  I put a NEW hard drive in and it still did the same thing.  So, I put the drive in my main machine and it installed.  After completing the installation, I plugged the drive back into the computer (I'll be using it as a media server) and it will start the windows loading screen, then just reboot the system.  I've never seen this happen, on a new drive, and it works on the other machine.

Hmm, maybe pull the rain configuration and just try installing onto one drive (if you haven't already). Maybe the raid is messing with the partitioning, and allocations with the OS? If that doesn't work, I'd say maybe try downloading a different ISO of Windows Server and try installing that one. If the problem continues, it might be the mobo going bad on it? My dad has a Asus Mobo P8P67 LP that didnt want to install Windows 8.1 pro, and once the drive was formatted, we couldn't reinstall 7. However after a while, we went to install 8.1 again, and it took. This is actually the second board that he has gotten directly from Asus that is experiencing this issue. (assuming thats the board you're using. )

Sounds like a dying hard drive or they're too full. Can you install them EFI style? Google that so I don't have to get super into detail about that.

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

I did, I put a BRAND NEW drive in it.  A family member bought it for their computer, but didn't use it.  If I put the drive in my computer, it will boot fine, however it will not in this.

It will boot into startup repair

EDIT: Apparently, Windows Server has a hotfix for systems with EFI boot, i'll try that
