I recently built a new pc with a 4770k and an H100i. The idle temps originally were around 20-30c with load around 50-60c. Now idle temps are about 40c with load temps 60-70c. I had a slight overclock to 4.2Ghz, but I loaded Asus's "optimized defaults" (Asus Maximus VI gene mobo) to see if lower clock speeds/voltages fixed the problem. Temps are a little lower, but still in the high 30s on idle. Any suggestions on why this might be happening? Also, the room is around 75-80f.

your slight overclock used more volts? if so, yeah temps will increase.

ambient of 25-27°, so i don't know about the 20° idle (it'll never cool to

below ambient, always 6°-12° above ambient)

i don't see a problem..

Yeah, it was originally high 20s low 30s. Now all of a sudden its high 30s low 40s. I don't know what caused the change

That was my thought. I am using ic diamond, but maybe it isn't a good application

It is the best thermalpaste, but did you use it too much or too little?

I thought I used a good amount. I might just check the coverage of the thermal paste and try again

fan speed, dust, background apps, ambient all influence temperatures. and sometimes

temperature sensors do not communicate 100% correctly. five apps five different readings.

airdeano

So you think the temps are fine?

two things, TIM usually needs time to "break-in" and flow secondly, you are dealing

in a CPU that is known with improper cooling defects. holding a 6°-12° above

ambient idle and more than 30° delta temperature on load suggests no issue..

So I just played borderlands for about an hour. Here are the temps, normal? (its current, min, max)

An indication of what voltage you are running will give us a clearer idea if that is the factor in your temps.

In that case when you applied the tim, what method did you use? Spread, cross, pea sized drop etc. Try another method.

Yeah sometimes it's a bit of a trial and error approach you have to take, as someone pointed out in an earlier post, putting too little and too much can impact performance so much. Finding that fine line just takes a little patience.

Yeah, I'll try again. I also just noticed the two tubes on the H100i are at hugely different temperatures. I know its taking heat away from the cpu, but are they supposed to be so different?

Never had an H100 but my bet is that there would be be a little difference but not enough to notice as the water is pumped that fast around the loop. Maybe fellow H100 users can shed some light on this matter.

Well, I found this link which unfortunately did not help.

Also this is happening... yikes!

I did a little research and it seems there have been some pump issues with the H100i. I contacted Coirsair, so I will see what they say.

Haswell is built from molten lava, what did you expect to happen with your tiny h100i.

True that! Haswell's get hot.

I'm rocking a 3570k with an H60 2013 @ 4.2 and my temps are fine.
