Hi onmy z87 msi gd65 gaming i get the standard set of debug codes at bootup then i get A0 which apparently where the debug led should stay. But after a while it changes to 04 which apparently means 'power on southbridge initialization'. Is that normal...safe? thanks in advance for the help :)

This should be fine. AO means it has been given control to the OS, and 04 which means "power on south bridge initialization" I believe that means that the south bridge has power and is operational.

Okay, I've figured it out, I think.

Anyhow it works, because I'm posting this reply using the rig with the MSI motherboard.

What did I do? The motherboard has 2x8 pin ATX powerconnectors on the Mainboard. According to what I've read before I put the rig together first time around. It only needs one unless you're going for overclocking it uses the 2nd for the extra power consumption.

when I tried the first time I only connected JPWR2 on the MB. Now I connected both JPWR2 & JPWR3

Next The motherboard supports dual triple and quad channel memory, firts time I put all 3 memory sticks from the other rig in. This time around I only installed two. I've followed in both cases the instructions inside the manual for proper placement of the memory modules.

And finally, I've cleared the CMOS. Did not use the battery trick but the Clear CMOS button on the back of the MB.

What the exact problem was I'm not sure. Was it not enough power to the Motherboard or a hardware conflict that required a CMOS reset. Can't say, Anyhow very happy it works now and that there's nothing wrong with the mainboard.

Thank you for the help guys

I think it should be fine if you can boot, though.

This is my general rule:

Are your temps okay?

Do you get any errors in windows?

Does the PC crash?

If you answer no to all of them don't worry.

Temps are fine, they are a little high because the uk is hot as F*** atm and the air is still. Never get any errors and the pc never crashes unless im trying to overclock it.
