RAM Compatibility Question.

Go to solution Solved by Aniallation,

Can I run the 1866 even if the processor supports 1366?

(yeah maybe this sounds stupid because I got a CPU that supports 1366 then I'm planning to buy 1600 but my friend told me it's ok but I'm a very worry person)

Yep, RAM that's rated for a higher speed then the processor/motherboard supports will automatically downclock to run at the maximum supported frequency.

So I bought this RAM called Kingston HyperX Fury Black 4GB 1866

I didn't realize that the item they gave me was 1866 instead of the 1600. (I realized it only after I got home)

Can I run the 1866 even if the processor supports 1366?

So it's just plug and play? No need to go some settings?

Thanks BTW

You shouldn't have to, I'm currently running the same RAM (1866 HyperX Fury) in a motherboard that only supports 1333. I put it in, turned computer on, and it just worked :)
