Linux for a Dell Dimension C521

Xubuntu/Light Linux or Puppy Linux

Edit: Mint would work just fine as long as you grab a lightweight desktop such as xfce. 512MB of ram is not enough on more intensive desktops such as Cinnamon or Ubuntu's Unity.

Got a old dell Dell Dimension C521 from my uncle, AMD Athlon (64) 2.0 GHz, 512mb of ddr 2, 60 GB HDD with Windows vista. I am planning on booting it up with linux, I just don't know what distro I should use have any suggestions? I am still pretty new to using Linux  I was planning on using Linux mint, but I looked at the requirements on Wikipedia and it said mint needs a Processor x86. Have any ideas?

I have another Dell Dimension C521 that used to run windows xp. Last time I booted it up giving me a error code with something wrong with the CPU or the mobo. Do you guys think I would be able to use the ram from my other Dell Dimension C521, because there's 2 x 256mb in that one. Do you guys will think its worth it putting in that or should I look into getting some cheap ddr2 off the internet. Thanks for all the help everyone  :)

I would invest in a 2gb kit, real cheap right now and will really bring some life into the computer. I would check what frequencies your mobo and cpu supports but heres a deal with good reviews. Do you think this would be good for simple browsing and video streaming? Komputerbay 2GB 2X 1GB DDR2 533MHz would there be a big difference between 533MHz and  667MHz. I looked at the online manual for the dell and it said it supports 533-MHz, 667-MHz, 800-MHz DDR2 SDRAM and up to 1-GB non-ECC. Currently the ram right now is 667-MHz. I live in Canada and I cannot find a place where they sell 667MHz in 2x1GB. (The shipping prices for shipping from amazon US is really high)

That would work just fine, the difference will be minimum if not unoticable between the two speeds.
